Leah, who comes from Margate in Kent, has worked in the care sector for 22 years in a variety of settings. She grew up enjoying the company of older people and as the daughter of a nurse, you could say the mould was set! She moved to Bridlington in 1994, joined HICA and progressed to manager in 1998. Leah is passionate about individual care for older people, especially those with dementia and actively participates in the local dementia collaborative to try to improve standards. Care is, without doubt, her vocation in life and her husband knows this only too well, often ‘volunteering’ to help out at various events. Even Leah’s much-loved, recently rescued German Shepherd will play a part in home life at Danes Lea, as did her previous 11-year old GermanShepherd. Leah is a football fanatic and, in keeping with her Southern roots, supports Spurs, as well as England. Leah has an NVQ Level 4 in Care, Registered Managers Award, NEBS Management Certificate and NVQ Assessors Award.
