In 1996, Sam embarked on her first job in the care sector, joined HICA in 2009 and was promoted to manager in 2010. She is completely committed to providing person-centred care and finds working with people with a dementia-related illness extremely rewarding. She has clear goals and is a good communicator, working alongside a skilled and experienced care team. Her door is always open and she very much leads by example. Sam has an NVQ Level 4 in Care and is currently undertaking a Leadership and Management Award. She has also completed training in Dementia Care Mapping. Born in Beverley, Sam owned her own horse until her early twenties. These days, she cannot invest the time needed to look after her own equine beauty, but still manages to ride occasionally and is a regular spectator at equestrian events. When she’s not at work, she can also be found hiking around the countryside with her husband and gorgeous giant Schnauzer.
